ABOUT MIGUEL MEIRELLES ANTIQUES
The store stocks antique furniture and decorative items from periods and styles including Louis XIV, Regence, Louis XV, Louis XVI, Directoire, Empire, Restauration, Napoleon III and occasionally, Biedermeier, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and some 1950’s and 1960’s pieces.
On his regular buying trips, Miguel will look for antique furniture and decorations to match client's' requests, with no obligation on their part to purchase the items. Each piece is selected for its quality, beauty and uniqueness.
People are often surprised to find antiques are more affordable than they may have thought. In today's furniture market, antiques are very competitive, and unlike reproduction furniture items which lose value from the moment they are taken home, antiques tend to increase in value. Miguel is happy to spend time explaining anything clients may want to know about a piece or about antiques in general.
ANTIQUE RESTORATION & CONSERVATION SERVICE
Most antiques in the store are displayed unrestored so that buyers can see the pieces in their original condition. Miguel offers a full restoration service and tailors the extent of restoration to client's taste.
Respecting the original condition of the pieces, all antique restoration work such as general repairs and maintenance, gilding, French or wax polishing, carving and inlaying, painted finishes and painting restoration are carried out using traditional techniques and materials.
Written quotes are given for all types of antique restorations.
